ORANGE CITY, Iowa—Trinity Ralston United Methodist Church of Ralston, Nebraska, located at 8009 Q Street, will host a concert by the Northwestern College A cappella Choir on Saturday, April 5, at 7 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.
Tour repertoire will feature settings of sacred hymns such as “It Is Well With My Soul” by Taiwanese arranger Yu-Shan Tsai. Other highlights include Eric Whitacre’s tender “Seal Lullaby,” Jake Runestad’s percussive “Nyon, Nyon,” and James Erb’s rich setting of the American folk favorite “Shenandoah.” The choir will also perform “Baba Yetu,” Christopher Tin’s well-known setting of the Lord’s Prayer in Swahili, along with Mark Hayes’ arrangement of the spiritual “Here’s One” for choir, piano and soprano saxophone.
The A cappella Choir’s tour, April 3–6, will include concerts at three South Dakota high schools and churches in Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and a suburb of Omaha, Nebraska.
The 36-member ensemble is directed by Dr. Thomas Holm, professor of music, and accompanied by Nora Verburg. The choir has performed across the U.S. and made international tours to destinations such as the Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Taiwan, Denmark and Sweden.
